Operating statement
Railyard Ops LLC is an independent software company in Rochester, New York, and the parent entity behind UnitTally and Bursary. It runs the infrastructure, handles the billing, and supports every product it owns.
01 What this policy covers
This policy explains what the website at railyardops.dev collects and why. The site is published by Railyard Ops LLC ("Railyard Ops", "we", "us", or "our").
It covers this website only. Each Railyard Ops product publishes its own privacy policy describing how that product handles the data its users put into it, including UnitTally at unittally.com/privacy. This page does not describe or govern any product's data handling.
02 What this website collects
Three things, and nothing you have to type in:
- Analytics
- We use PostHog to measure how the site is used: pages viewed, referring site, interactions such as clicks, approximate location derived from IP address, and device and browser type. PostHog stores a randomly generated identifier in your browser so repeat visits from the same browser can be counted once. That identifier is not linked to a name or an email address, because the site never asks for one.
- Request logs
- Our host records standard web server data for each request, including IP address, timestamp, requested URL, and user agent. These keep the site available and let us investigate abuse and security events.
- Email you send us
- If you write to a railyardops.dev address, we receive your email address, your message, and anything you attach. We keep it to answer you and to maintain a record of the correspondence.
03 What this website does not collect
This website has no accounts, no logins, no forms, and no checkout. It does not collect names, passwords, payment details, or card numbers, because there is nowhere on it to enter them.
We do not sell or rent personal information, and we do not share it with advertisers or data brokers. This site carries no advertising and no third-party ad or marketing trackers.
04 Analytics and your choices
PostHog stores its identifier in your browser using a cookie, local storage, or both, depending on your browser settings. It is a first-party identifier used to count visits. We do not use it to build advertising profiles or to track you across other sites.
You can opt out by blocking the analytics script or clearing site data. Content blockers and browsers that block third-party scripts stop the collection, and the site works normally without it. Clearing site data for railyardops.dev removes the stored identifier, and a later visit is counted as a new one.
05 Service providers
Three providers see data from this website, each only to run it:
- Cloudflare
- Hosting, content delivery, and DNS. Handles every request to this site and records the request logs described above.
- PostHog
- Product analytics, on United States infrastructure. Receives the analytics data described above.
- Email routing
- Mail to railyardops.dev addresses is routed by Cloudflare Email Routing and delivered to a hosted mailbox.
06 Retention and security
Analytics data is kept under our PostHog plan's retention period. Request logs are kept for a short operational window and then dropped. Email is kept as long as the correspondence is useful.
This site is served over TLS, and the systems behind it are access controlled. No website can promise perfect security, and this one does not.
07 Changes to this policy
We may revise this policy, and the revision date at the top of this page is the effective date. If this website ever starts collecting something new, such as a contact form or a mailing list, this page changes before that goes live.
